Tip from the bartender

Cocktails were first defined in 1806 in an article from an American newspaper as a mix of spirits, sugar, water, and bitters. In 1862, the popularity of this versatile and creative drink category increased thanks to Jerry Thomas, who published the book “The Bartender’s Guide." Creativity grew even further during Prohibition around 1920, due to the so-called illegal “speakeasies.” This, combined with the rediscovery of classic techniques by the craft cocktail movement of the late 20th century, has resulted in the rich cocktail culture we know today.

PERFECT SERVE

A great cocktail is more than just what’s in the glass. It’s the details, the glassware, the ice, the garnish, that elevate it into an experience. A twist of citrus, a sprig of herbs, or the right glass shape can transform flavour, aroma, and mood.

But beyond the aesthetics, the real magic lies in the moment itself: the atmosphere, the laughter, the people you share it with. That’s what Yugen is all about: creating small, beautiful moments of connection, one perfectly served drink at a time.
