Yugen is now a Certified B Corp - a milestone worth celebrating

We’re officially B Corp certified as of December 2025. We're proud to be part of this growing, global movement pushing towards an inclusive, equitable economy. It's a milestone that reflects years of commitment, care, and conscious choices.

WHAT IS A B CORP AND WHY DOES IT MATTER

B Lab is a nonprofit whose mission is to use business as a force for good. As B Lab puts it: “B Corps meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit with purpose.”

To become a B Corp, companies undergo the rigorous B Impact Assessment (BIA), which evaluates impact across five key areas:

• Governance — how a company is directed, ethical decision-making and transparency
• Workers — how workers are treated, compensated, and supported
• Environment — ecological footprint, sourcing, waste, packaging, carbon, and sustainability practices
• Community — relationships with suppliers, fairness, community support, and social impact
• Customers — the quality, safety, transparency, and broader impact of products and services

Companies must score at least 80 points out of 200 to qualify. Through our BIA, Yugen scored 93.6 points, a result that not only meets but exceeds the threshold.

Certification also requires a legal commitment and transparency: as a B Corp, we commit to modified corporate governance that balances stakeholder interests (not just shareholder profit), and we publicly disclose our BIA profile. The certification is verified independently, and must be renewed every 3 years, so the commitment to impact is ongoing, not just a one-time statement.

HOW YUGEN ALREADY LIVES THE B CORP VALUES

At Yugen, “doing good” isn’t new - it’s how we’ve built every bottle from the start.

• Sustainable sourcing & minimally processed ingredients: We only use certified organic teas, herbs and fruit juices (not from concentrate) and sugar. Everything we use is as nature intended it. We don't use any artificial or 'natural' aromas, extracts, sweeteners, preservatives or colourants. 
• Quality, health, and customers: Our kombucha remains unpasteurized, low-sugar, plant-based, raw, and full of live cultures - delivering a product that nourishes the body, supports gut health, and reflects our commitment to integrity and wellness.
• Eco-conscious packaging: Our kombucha is bottled in recyclable glass bottles and bpa-free cans. We print our cans and bottles to avoid unnecessary plastic sleeving. Our boxes are made with recycled cardboard. 
• Worker care & fair practices: From our supply partners to our own team - we prioritize fair compensation, safe working conditions, ethical practices, and transparency.
• Community and social impact: We aim to support local growers and suppliers, build sustainable relationships, and help our local communities in various ways (events, donations, collabs, etc.).

WHAT'S NEXT - OUR AMBITION FOR THE FUTURE

Becoming a B Corp is not a finish line - it’s a new beginning for Yugen. Looking ahead, we’re committed to:

• Further reducing our environmental footprint: exploring even more sustainable production practices, lowering carbon emissions in sourcing and shipping, and increasing use of renewable energy in production.
• Deepening community and supplier support: expanding our network of ethical suppliers, investing in regenerative agriculture- and nature-based experiences, and supporting fair wages and social initiatives wherever possible.
• Enhancing transparency and reporting: sharing impact reports with customers and community members so you can see exactly what we’re doing - and where we’re still growing.
• Growing access to conscious kombucha: expanding availability so people across Europe can enjoy kombucha that’s crafted with care - for the planet, the people, and their health.
