CHARLES DEGEYTER

MANGO TURMERIC

Charles Degeyter is self-taught, does not shy away from any technique and flirts effortlessly with different cultures, eras and customs

Despite his young age (25), he has followed a path that is just as surprising as his oeuvre. He has designed posters for Queens of the Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails and Weezer, among others. The bold combinations on these screen-printed posters bear witness to a distinctive visual approach that can be found in his artistic work today. He recently exhibited drawings at the Tatjana Pieters gallery and created an all-encompassing installation for the Verbeke Foundation.

The story behind 'Black Panther'

That one’s very personal to me,” Charles said. “The panther has always fascinated me. It’s powerful, but at the same time incredibly graceful. There’s this perfect balance between strength and elegance, light and darkness. It felt like the right symbol for the Mango Turmeric flavour. Both ingredients come from India, which also happens to be the home of the black panther. So in a way, it all came full circle. For me, it wasn’t just about creating a nice image. It was about finding that deeper meaning, something that connects the flavour, the animal, and the spirit of Yugen.”
